langkawi.. after a decade..

it has been more than a decade since I set foot on Langkawi island.. yes.. I know.. it's been a long time and it's the truth.. I remembered the last time I went there was with my college buddies during college days to watch LIMA exhibition.. ironically, we'd rented a Hyundai car (cannot recall what model, I'll remember when I see one) for our ride.. I just couldn't remember what year was that.. maybe if I can find photos of us there, then only I can recall.. at that time, the island was kind of deserted.. compare to today which is crowded not only with people.. but also with all kind of duty free shops.. they were sprung like mushrooms sprung to life after the rain.. the langkawi I remembered was mellow, peaceful, calm and quiet island.. with sandy beaches and small chalet along the beach.. back then, there were no tall building on the island.. now, hotels are big and tall.. roads are becoming narrow, small and tight.. although those 2 same opposite lanes were there since GOD knows when.. in addition to that, most of sundry shops were build at the roadside.. which make things worst..

The trip was organized by my mom's office.. almost most of all her unit were going.. in total of 10 families.. kind of family day specially organized for/by her unit.. 2 executive coaches were needed to chauffer us all from Shah Alam to Kuala Perlis on Friday nite.. we reached there the next morning.. we didn't have to wait long for ferry ride.. luckily, the ferry co made special announcement for us when it was time to aboard.. obviously, bcos we was one big group.. they also had reserved designated places for us on the ferry.. so there was no hassle there.. so far the journey was smooth as silk.. it took almost an hour to reach Langkawi jetty.. I never thought it was that far though.. the ferry was packed with people and luggage.. at the jetty, we have to wait for our ride.. I thought we all would be chauffer on the bus.. apparently, they'd rented a van for each family (for small family which comprised of 3 or 4 person.. they would scooched together 2 families in the same van).. since our's was among the big one, we do needed our own van and chaperon.. luckily, my 1st bro joined us all.. at first, he didn't really confirm to join this trip.. it was supposed to be my 2nd bro.. but he just couldn't make it.. busy with his class and work.. otherwise, we wouldn't have any driver to drive that old van.. moi, my mom, my 2 sis (one is underage and one with no driving experience) and 3 little kids.. even my mom hadn't see this coming..

the downside of the trip I would say, weather and missing luggage.. not luggage la.. a plastic bag with all those kind of expensive chocolates.. my leg were still sore of running around back and forth to those endless duty shops.. choosing all kind of varieties and comparing prices.. sigh!.. luckily my mom save some in her hand luggage.. but most them were the cheap one la... dah takde rezeki nak merasa yg mahal2.. maybe next time around.. weather was gloomy and rainy.. the farthest part we went was underwaterworld.. that was it! I should plan this trip ahead if I really want to cover most part of the island.. rasa tak puas hati berjalan this time!

and for family bowling tournament we were 4th from 10 families.. it was GOOD! considered only moi and mom participated in the game.. my 2 sisters memang tangan kayu.. baling ntah macamana.. bola itu melompat2 macam katak.. nasib takde org yg cedera.. pelik aku diorang tak penah main.. me during college days dah terjebak in this game.. my bro, he'd been imported to another team which has only 3 team members.. so, nak cukupkan korum jek.. tak percaya gak aku dia tak penah main bowling.. betol rupanya! nasib tak masuk dlm team kitorang.. hehehe.. berlagak sungguh! tapi lama2 tu ok laa.. boleh catch up.. ala guys ni.. senang jek.. it's my 2nd bro yg terror in all sort of sports.. you just name it.. futsal, bola, badminton, bowling, skateboard.. among sports yg I know he played.. hockey and rugby jek tak join lagi.. if he has time, moi believe he will play one day!
